JD Freight LTD : Cargo insurance
The European commission has introduced the Insurance Mediation Directive (IMD) which requires Member
States to implement the regulation of all who provide insurance services, into their national legislation.
With effect from 14 January 2005 freight forwarders, logistics and freight services suppliers who wish to insure
customers’ goods whilst these are in their care, custody or control have to register with the Financial Services
Authority (FSA). The cost of this process and of maintaining a registered status is high.
We have decided that we are NOT going to register with the FSA.
Therefore, we are no longer permitted by law to offer any advice of any kind on the subject matters.
Of course, we can refer you to our own insurance broker who will be able to help with any enquiries you may
have or you may prefer to contact your own professional insurance advisors.
